Friday – Monday

Leaving friday for a long weekend in London. We'll be staying in the Days Hotel London Waterloo, conveniently close to Waterloo International station. Eurostar will be moving to St. Pancreas International, but that's only in November.

A good tourist is well prepared so I picked up some goodies:

Now to decide what to see and do in this way too short 4 day time span …

  1. Well Have fun Irma, 🙂 You should get a long weekend every weekend :

  2. Thank you 🙂 Yeah, I could definitely use some fun by now … Hopefully E. will enjoy it as well, we'll compromise on what to see and do.

  3. Sounds like fun – hope you have a good time.

  4. Sounds like fun. Having just spent the weekend in Camden, I would suggest that is a good place to get cheap souvenirs and good, cheap market food. Saturday or Sunday only for the market by the lock, though.Have you got a Tube Map and Oyster Cards? – here is where you can find out about themUnless you are planning to take taxis or walk everywhere, an Oyster Card is the best investment you can make. They have Oyster Card readers on all tube stations and buses – tubes you have to touch in and out, buses just touch when you get on. You will never have to queue for a ticket (that makes you look less a tourist for a start lol!) and you will never be charged more than the travel card price for one day. I am pretty sure you could order on line and get it/them delivered to your hotel. There is a £3.00 fee for the card. But that card will be valid for its lifetime. But you may already have sussed all that out – sorry if you have.
    Whatever, have a great time!

  5. I'm sure I will, thank you 🙂

  6. Tried to get the Oyster card for visitors, but they don't sell them over here in Antwerp. At the Antwerp railway station they told me they're for sale in Brussels, so I'm going to try and buy one before boarding Eurostar. Need to be at the Eurostar platform around 7.45 AM, so I guess if I'm at the station around 7.00 AM, I might still have time to get me one. Will see about perhaps getting one online, and delivering it to the hotel, as you suggested.

  7. Yay! You get to see London. I hope that you'll have a great time. You seem very prepared for this trip ^_^

  8. I've been to the UK several times, landing at Heathrow airport, but I've never really spent a couple of days in London just yet. Not really all that prepared, I'd like the city to take me in. Might do some touristy things though, like visiting a museum, walking around looking at a map, taking a ride in the London Eye, making lots of pictures etc.
